I don't own them all yet (ever the "yet") but I want all of Sam's clothes except the lawn dress. I see that hat and go, PILLSBURY DOUGH BOY. My niece has it and I don't care for it at all. But that's just me.
I know that back then fabric like Sam would have worn would have been very stiff, very heavy and fine, and probably very uncomfy. I'm going to order the Talent Dress on payday (Tuesday - YIPPEE!) and I'll gladly post my opinion on it.
I like the school dress - but I think it would have been very itchy!

The fabric doesn't bother me. I don't like some of the drop waisted styles...But it was the style at the turn of the century, so I have to live with it. I have most of Samantha's outfits, including the Lawn Party dress because I love croquet. The hat is a bit much though. Dianna and I don't like her bridesmaid's dress...the one in the movie is better. I went to check her talent show outfit to see what it was like. I guess I don't have it. It could be because it's a drop waisted dress. But the girls are visiting Molly and Josefina in Florida so they may have it down there.

I think the drop waisted styles are adorable. And they are definitely age-appropriate for her era.
I don't like the bridesmaid's gown in the catalog either. It looks like something Addy would wear (or at least from her era; she would have never believed a dress like that existed!); it looks a bit outdated to me for 1904. I was disappointed when I saw how cute the one in the movie was.
(I think I'm supposed to be going to the library now! LOL!)

I really detest the bridesmaid outfit! I refuse to buy it. First, I don't even want to get started on how Sam wouldn't have worn a floor length gown. And that color on her? I guess I'm not attached to it like I am to the other gowns since it showed up in the movie and not one of the original books I read over and over as a child. For the lawn dress, I don't like the hat but I REALLY want the little croquet set. I wish they would sell those seperately.

I'm all about The Code (I think capitalizing it makes it look more important!) but ya'll should look at the handmade stuff on ebay. Some of these women should be making bridal gowns (and some of them should return to sewing feedsacks, but hey - it's like karaoke, it's not always talent but the guts it takes to get up on the ebay stage, right?). Look at this. I think I'm going to bid on one of these as opposed to the Tea Dress from AG. Plus, someone SEWED this bad boy, so I think it adds a bit of value.

She's got other gorgeous stuff as well.
